UAE records 12 deaths since beginning of US-Israel-Iran war; injuries at 190

On April 1, a Bangladeshi expat was killed after a successful interception of a drone in Fujairah

UAE air defences have responded to 5 ballistic missiles and 35 drones from Iran on April 1, 2026, as the Middle East war entered its Day 33.

Since the start of the war on February 28, 2026, the country has recorded 12 deaths and 190 injuries. On April 1, an expat from Bangladesh was killed after a successful interception of a drone by UAE air defence forces resulted in debris falling on a farm in Fujairah.

Fatalities in the UAE include two members of the armed forces who were killed while performing their national duty, and a Moroccan civilian contracted by the Armed Forces.

Nine civilians also lost their lives in separate incidents across the country. The fatalities are of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian and Indian nationalities.

The wounds of the 190 people injured range from minor to moderate and severe. The injured included nationals of the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden and Tunisia.

The Ministry of Defence affirmed in a statement that it remains fully prepared and ready to deal with any threats and will firmly confront anything that aims to undermine the security of the country, in a manner that ensures the protection of its sovereignty, security and stability and safeguards its interests and national capabilities.
