V Muraleedharan, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, paid a visit to Thumbay Medicity, Ajman on Thursday — where he was greeted by Dr Thumbay Moideen, founder-president of Thumbay Group.

He was accompanied by Dr Aman Puri, Consul-General of India in Dubai.

The minister, who is on a three-day visit to the UAE, toured the advanced healthcare and medical education facilities at Thumbay Medicity, including Gulf Medical University (GMU) – the largest private medical university in the Middle East — and the 350-bed Thumbay University Hospital, which has the biggest private academic hospital in the region.

He commended Thumbay Medicity for the excellent facilities for healthcare and medical education and research, as well as the university’s advanced training and teaching facilities.

He also appreciated Dr Thumbay and the Group’s efforts in bringing the latest technology and innovation in healthcare and medical education to the region.

The minister further thanked the UAE government for the support rendered to Thumbay Group in establishing such a project in Ajman.

Dr Thumbay said: “Thumbay Medicity serves the region as a hub of world-class healthcare, medical education and research, fully equipped to serve a floating population of 20,000.

“The Thumbay University Hospital, along with the dental and rehabilitation facilities, make Thumbay Medicity a unique destination for specialised healthcare.”

GMU and Thumbay Hospitals have the distinction of being the first private academic healthcare system in the region.
