“The opening of Dubai International Chamber’s new office in Bengaluru represents a strategic step that will elevate economic cooperation between Dubai and India,” he said. “It lays the foundation for a new chapter of economic integration, stronger business partnerships, and the development of the digital economy.”

During his first official visit to the country, which came on the invite of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sheikh Hamdan held meetings with several dignitaries and discussed strengthening cooperation between the two markets.

With the opening of the new office in Bengaluru, the number of Dubai International Chambers' international representative offices has risen to 34. This expansion is part of the Dubai Global initiative launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which aims to establish 50 international offices around the world by 2030 to attract foreign direct investment and support Dubai-based companies in exploring new business opportunities in 30 global markets.

Strengthening economic ties

In their addresses at the event, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, highlighted the strength of economic ties between the two nations, especially after signing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in 2022. “Our relationship is deeply rooted in partnership,” he said. “Over the last three years we have hit many numbers that we hadn’t seen in centuries of trade between the two countries. India has become the UAE’s third largest trading partner.”

Al Mansoori noted that the Mumbai and Bengaluru offices will help accelerate the flow of investments between Dubai and India. He highlighted that Dubai’s investments in India have focused on key sectors such as transportation and warehousing, real estate, and information technology services, while Indian companies have invested significantly in Dubai’s software and IT services, business services, and consumer goods sectors.

Speaking at the event, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of Dubai International Chamber, expressed “appreciation” for the “continued commitment” that India has shown to strengthen bilateral partnership. “By strengthening partnerships with key economies such as India, we are not only reinforcing Dubai’s role as a hub for international collaboration but also creating pathways for Emirati businesses to explore new global opportunities.”

The entrepreneur, who is also the CEO of DP World, said the entity is proud of being “an enabler” of the trade growth between the two countries “backed by long-term investments in the UAE and India to drive inclusive economic growth and prosperity.”
