The Dubai Police in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a comprehensive plan for traffic movement during the Eid al-Adha holidays in Dubai.
The announcement was made on August 6, 2019.
The plan is meant to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance the safety and security of road users during the Eid holiday. It covers all internal and key roads such as the Airport Street, tourist areas and malls. Traffic and road security patrols will maintain a strong presence to ease and prevent potential traffic issues as a result of the anticipated heavy traffic.
The plan covers Burj Khalifa district where traffic will be directed in different directions, be it from Oud Metha Street, Happiness Street or internal roads of the Business Bay. To ensure the smooth traffic flow, light signals at the Financial Centre Street and Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard will be monitored and controlled to ensure smooth traffic flow at peak times.
"The RTA has charted the required traffic and operational plans and planned the operation of mass transit means to meet the rising needs of the public, and road users during the holiday period. The aim of the plan is to enable the public to safely use public or private transit means during Eid days, which is usually a busy period," said Engineer Maitha Bin Adai CEO of traffic and roads agency and head of the team responsible for traffic movement and handling of operational plans during annual events.
