All these cases were referred to the relevant authorities for issuance of fines.
Also last year, HAAD’s Health Insurance Regulation Department carried out over 600 inspections of select public and private healthcare providers to monitor compliance with the health insurance law. “The inspections are part of HAAD’s continuous monitoring of the compliance of all participants with the health insurance law to make sure that everyone has access to health services and that companies and individuals are protected from fraudulent and abusive behaviour,” said Zaid Al Siksek, CEO of HAAD.
To support these inspections, HAAD conducted a series of workshops and seminars targeting insurance companies and healthcare providers in the emirate.
Ahmed Al Kindi, Section Head, Grievances and Appeals in the Health Insurance Regulation Department at HAAD, appealed to all those concerned to come forward and report cases of suspected fraud and abuse. He assured that the confidentiality of complainant would be ensured by the authority.
Since June 2007, HAAD has investigated over 1,000 complaints relating to health insurance.
To file a complaint, one can e-mail at healthcare@haad.ae or call the hotline number 800800.
