Gold shopping in Dubai leads to gold Mercedes win for expat
Coming from modest roots, he said owning a luxury car was something he had never imagined, 'not even in his dreams'

A Dubai resident from a small fishing village in Sri Lanka never thought a luxury car could belong in his life, not even as a distant dream. Yet in a life-changing moment, years of savings led him to an extraordinary reward: He became the winner of a gold Mercedes Benz S-Class 500.
His win was the headline moment of Dubai Gold District’s ‘Shop & Win’ campaign, which ran from December 11 to February 8. During the campaign, shoppers received one raffle entry for every Dh500 spent at participating gold, jewellery and watch stores across the District.

The winner said he had used his long-term savings to purchase gold at Dubai Gold District, a decision he made with investment in mind. Grateful and overwhelmed, he described the prize as something that would transform his life.
He also shared the quote he lives by: “Keep going. Everything you need will come to you at the right time.”
