Sweety Celine, a first standard student of St. Joseph’s School, was the second daughter of Shaju, a computer operator at Choeifat International School, and Mini, both from Kerala, India.

Sweety met with the fatal accident when she attempted to look through an open window of her flat in the old Daewoo building, which is next to Faris Furniture on the Airport Road.

According to relatives, the girl was doing her homework when she heard her friends, sharing the same apartment, shouting at the arrival of their brother downstairs. "She also peeped out and tried to rest her hands on the glass window, which was open unusually that day behind the closed curtain," said Johny, Sweety's uncle.

Rameena, who was staying with Sweety's family, said that she and her little sister were calling out to their brother Riyas from their bedroom window when they saw him returning from school. "Sweety also tried to do the same, but she did not know her window was open," she told this reporter.

Johny said the police who arrived at the spot within ten minutes was very helpful and did the routine questioning without harassing anybody.

"The body has been shifted to the mortuary of Central Hospital and we are trying to clear the paperwork at the earliest. If we get police clearance and death certificate tomorrow, we hope to take the body on Wednesday. Due to holidays, we might have to postpone till Saturday," he added.

According to friends and neighbours, Sweety was a very active and smart child and liked by everybody.
