Dubai Police have nabbed a gang of six Asians who robbed around Dh3 million from the vehicle of a money transport company, where they were employed, in record time.
Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, lauded the Dubai Police team for arresting the gang members before they could smuggle the money out of the country.
Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigation, said the police operation room received information that one of the vehicles belonging to a money transport  company was robbed in an area that was under the jurisdiction of Al Muraqqabat police station.
Al Mansouri added that the criminal investigation team swung into action and arrested the robbers in no time. The culprits were tracked to a house located in the purview of Rashidiya police station. The police recovered the full amount while the gang members were planning to flee the country.
Al Mansouri praised the team for their dedication and inventing new methods in carrying out the operation.
He said that Dubai Police have launched a comprehensive study on crimes against money transport institutions and money exchange firms. It includes studying records of burglaries and robberies and initiatives of the police to limit them. The study has been submitted to the Ministry of the Interior.
