'Fully digital' vehicle licensing service in Dubai soon

Dubai - Technical testing of vehicles will continue.

A "fully digital vehicle licensing" service will be introduced in Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Monday.

The new initiative will make the vehicle registration exercise "much easier" thanks to "digital technologies that save customer's time and effort under the existing regular procedures", said Mousa Al Raeisy, director of Vehicle Licensing Systems, RTA Licensing Agency.

The official said the technical testing of vehicles will continue.

This came as the RTA held a remote session with customers to discuss the "first-of-its-kind" initiative.

"This interactive session yielded innovative ideas that generated four creative lines of thinking, which contributed to developing a model for a full digital vehicle licensing experience. The service will be introduced as part of the ongoing digital transformation drive at the agency that continues up to 2021," said Al Raeisy.
