A young Asian man stood trial at the Fujairah Court for attempting to commit suicide over "family disputes".
Investigations revealed that he stole some medicine from the pharmacy he worked in, and swallowed some of it.
According to the sheet of indictment, the man lost consciousness soon after and slumped to the ground.
He was rushed to the hospital where paramedics managed to rescue him.
Alerted about the incident, the Fujairah Police initiated an investigation and discovered that the defendant was not suffering from any medical issue when he took the medicine.
The video footage gathered from the surveillance cameras installed in the pharmacy showed the man stealing the medicine and swallowing a huge amount of it.
He was referred to the Fujairah Public Prosecution which charged him with attempted suicide.
The man was then referred to the court where he admitted to trying to take his own life due to some family disputes.
