An Arab resident has appeared in the Fujairah Misdemeanour Court for completely damaging his wife's cell phone in a way that she can never use it again.
As per court records, the case unfolded when the couple had a heated argument over some family issues, following which the husband broke her cell phone.
The angry wife lodged a complaint against her husband who admitted to the wrongdoing before the Fujairah police, public prosecution and the misdemeanour court.
"Yes, I did damage her cell phone," he said. "But, I was the one who bought that phone on one of the special occasions, and have the bill that proves that I am the buyer."
The defendant showed those papers in court that proved that he was the one who purchased it.
"I bought it in installments from one of the telecommunications companies operating in the country, and I have not paid the due amount in full," he underlined.
He added that the woman is still his wife, and there is no "legal reason" for filing this case.
"I did not assault or beat her up. I also did not swear at her. Why is it then that I have to appear in court like this?"
The court ordered the adjournment of the case to next week for the couple to end their argument amicably and drop the case.
