The 43-year-old Emirati man found dead in Didana mountains in Fujairah was apparently caught in the flash floods that hit the emirate recently, the Fujairah Police have said.
Abdullah Saeed, a relative to the deceased, said the man had gone camping at his rest abode in the mountains. No one noticed his disappearance as he used to spend days at his lodging, he added.
"This time was different as the emirate was hit by heavy showers and strong winds and the entire valley flooded. He must have been surprised by the floods which apparently washed him away."
The body was found decomposed 3km off the Zakt dam in Fujairah on Saturday, said Saeed.
Major-General Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of the Fujairah Police, said they were alerted of the incident by people in the vicinity.
"The corpse was shifted to the hospital for autopsy, while investigations are underway to identify if there was any crime behind."
