Expat wins $1 million twice in Dubai Duty Free raffle

Musleh Mousa Hassan, a 73-year-old Lebanese national, became only the 7th person to win the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire promotion twice when his name was announced in a draw held on Tuesday at Dubai International Airport.
Hassan, a corporate manager at Oman Insurance, held ticket 0742 in series 273. He had earlier won the raffle in November 2012.
Hassan, a UAE resident for the past 39 years, is the 10th Lebanese national to win $1 million at the DDF raffle.
"Three days ago, I prayed that I would never have to rely financially on anyone at such an old age. I prayed to have the opportunity to retire peacefully with enough income for my wife and I," Hassan told Khaleej Times.
When he had won the draw for the first time back in 2012, his brother had passed away, leaving three boys and one girl behind.
"My wife also had a failed pregnancy at the time. It was a rough patch, and when I won, I decided to dedicate the money to my nephews and niece," said Hassan, who now resides with his wife in Dubai.
His nephews and nieces have all received their degree and good education. "They took their degrees in medicine and engineering, and I can't be more proud of them."
Hassan added that his first draw money was spent to support his family, friends and people in need, especially when the going gets rough.
Now that he won it for the second time, he will continue to support the family, while saving for a retirement plan in Lebanon.
"My mother is 90 years old back in Lebanon, and she needs company. I will focus on spending more time with her, especially when I retire on the long run," said Hassan.
For him, people must "take life easy." He added, "Life is about lifting each other up without expecting anything in return. When I chose to dedicate my life to raise my brother's children, I didn't think of any returns, knowing at some point they will leave me and establish their own life."
