Now, the gaming world has revolutionised into life like activities that could be enjoyed without moving out of the living room.

With the highest standard of graphics in the gaming consoles and softwares, players can speed away like Raikkonen, build Rome like Julius Caeser and bend it like Beckham. This year, for the first time Gitex 2008 has launched a separate gaming section at the Gitex Shopper-2008. Children and adults alike were seen at the Digital Game World, at the Gitex Shopper trying out various gaming activities like online PC gaming and checking out the latest gaming consoles and softwares.


A free exclusively designed gaming area has been set up for game lovers. Blockbusters like FarCry 2, Crysis Warhead, as well as popular titles like FIFA 2009 and Warcraft 3 were some of the favourites of the gaming enthusiasts.

Ashish Panjabi, Chief Operating Officer of Jacky’s Electronics, said, “Many gaming softwares and consoles have been specifically launched for the Gitex-2008. The Sony PSP (Portable Play Station) slim is on sale at the Jacky’s stalls. There is also an 80GB version of the play station at the stalls. The demand for gaming consoles, and softwares are very high in the UAE market and we are expecting a huge crowd for these products because they have been prized reasonably and are available under one roof.” The Gitex Digital game world also saw many international companies like Roccat Studios Hamburg from Germany introduce the Roccat gaming mouse, a maximum customisation gaming mouse and mouse mat.Michael Schmidt, marketing and communications representative of Roccat, said, “The mouse can be customised to suit the needs of the gamer, the colour on display and the momentum of the mouse can be changed to the gamer’s liking. The mouse has many features including two digital sensors — a laser sensor and a photographic sensor - whereas a normal mouse has only one. There is a 72MHz processor installed in the mouse, and can be used on even a normal PC with Microsoft Windows and Vista.”


Acer Aspire introduced the Predator gaming console as well as the Predator G24 LCD monitor, which is the world’s first LCD monitor that supports up to 50000:1 contrast ratio which gives stunning performance in the most exciting gaming challenges. The biggest attraction of the Gitex Digital gaming world is the Intel Extreme Masters Series that would run from October 20 to 24.
