ACTRESS Svetlana Mishra on the 5 things that she will remember 2015 by:
My whole acting and modelling career was based in Mumbai, India [acting in popular television shows like Saavdhan India and Baalika Vadhu, and modeling for commercials for Subway and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Chai Pe Charcha). Taking the bold call of moving to Dubai in early 2015 gave my career a new mould (my five years of acting and modelling experience in India gave me a boost to work with international directors and actors). This city of gold has given much more than I expected. The fame, the love and the recognition which I got here this last year has been overwhelming and it has taught me I should keep putting my best efforts and not disappoint my fans and friends.
To be a part of the multicultural theatre community had always been on my mind and had been my dream and this finally happened in2015, in Dubai. I got the opportunity to showcase two successful full length plays with wonderful production groups, Malhaar and Backstage.
"Never give up" is something that I can never forget. This is something that has been taught to me and followed in the true sense by my role model - my father. He started his company, his dream project post retirement in 2015.
Every individual who is living in Dubai has taught me something or the other. Following one's passion after late office hours, homemakers working from home or doing some part-time work to add to their family income and many of their stories of survival in Dubai, specially the women who are entrepreneurs today, have always motivated me.
I shot for a project where I saw an old man in his 60s standing on the set with white beard, white hair. As a part of the script, I was supposed to approach him. When this old man turned towards me, I realised it was my husband, made to look 60. That special moment left me all emotional and something that I will always cherish. Not to forget my very first play Haaye Akhtari, a tribute to the musical legend Begum Akhtar at Madinat Jumeirah, a place I had always heard of and the first time I faced the camera in Dubai for a movie shoot.
