UAE: Fire erupts in Sharjah Industrial Area, eyewitnesses report

A fire broke out in Sharjah’s industrial area on Tuesday afternoon (December 16), sending thick plumes of smoke billowing across nearby warehouses.

The blaze in Sharjah's industrial area 6, which broke out past 2pm on Tuesday, engulfed a huge portion of a warehouse, with flame visible from a distance and the sound of cracking fire echoing through the area.

In a video shared by one of the eyewitnesses, thick plumes of smoke can be seen billowing atop a burning warehouse, alarming workers nearby.

As the fire raged, residents and workers were seen trying to save whatever materials and belongings they could.

Despite the intensity of the fire, there was chatter but no sign of panic.

Workers who appeared to be in the middle of a busy workday were seen rushing to save materials, forced to step away from their usual tasks as the flames crept to neighbouring warehouses.

One eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, said that he saw at least five fire trucks deployed to the area bring the fire under control.
