Sharjah: Fire in 5 warehouses brought under control

A major fire that broke out in five warehouses in Sharjah Industrial Area 18 on Friday, was brought under control, the emirate's Civil Defence said.

According to authorities, the operations room received an alert from police operations at 3.16pm, reporting the blaze. Firefighting teams immediately moved to the scene and began working to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby areas.

The teams successfully brought the situation under control. Cooling operations are still underway. No injuries were reported in the incident.

On May 15, a fire was reported at an auto spare parts warehouse located in Industrial Area 6.

On April 13, a fire had broken out in a fruits and vegetables warehouse located in Sharjah’s industrial area 15. The flames marked the second blaze of the day in Sharjah after a deadly fire claimed the lives of five in a fire at a high-rise tower in Sharjah’s Al Nahda area.

Sharjah is stepping up efforts to reduce fire-related risks by introducing advanced technologies in buildings across the emirate.
