Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif mourns 2 expats killed in UAE missile debris incidents

The consulate general in Dubai is in direct contact with local authorities to assist the family and expedite repatriation

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday mourned the deaths of two Pakistani expats in the UAE caused by falling missile debris after interception.

Talking about the repatriation of the body, he said: "Our diplomatic missions in the UAE are in close contact with the Dubai authorities to provide all necessary assistance and to facilitate the repatriation process. Our hearts go out to the bereaved family in this hour of grief."

The Pakistani embassy also confirmed the news of one death in Dubai’s Al Barsha area following the interception of an incoming missile on Saturday night. The embassy stated that the consulate general in Dubai is in direct contact with local authorities to assist the family and expedite repatriation. “In this hour of grief, we share in the family’s pain and offer our most sincere prayers,” the statement added.

This latest death brings the total number of foreign nationals killed in the UAE amid Iranian missile attacks to four, including two Pakistanis, one Nepalese, and one Bangladeshi. Dubai authorities first confirmed that debris from an aerial interception caused the death of a person near Al Barsha on Saturday evening.

In a separate incident on Saturday, debris from a missile interception caused minor damage to the facade of a tower in Dubai Marina. Authorities reported that the situation was contained and no injuries occurred.

Overall, UAE authorities have recorded 112 cases of minor and moderate injuries across the country, affecting nationals from a wide range of countries including the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, and Turkey.
