“Upon arrival at 7.47pm, achieving a response time of five minutes, it was found that the fire had broken out in an advertising signboard belonging to a shop in the building,” the statement continued. “The incident was minor in scale. At 7.55pm, the incident commander confirmed that the fire was under control and cooling operations were underway, with no injuries reported.
One eyewitness who lives in the area said that he was on his way to the nightly Taraweeh prayers when he saw the fire. “The flames were intense and people were running,” he said. “I was a bit shocked to see the fire but before I could react, the emergency vehicles were already there.”
Earlier this month, DCD used robot dogs alongside firefighters to bring a fire in a Ras Al Khor warehouse under control.
