The number of students in Parwarish, the boarding school set up by the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) in 2009 at Swat for orphaned children of the war-ravaged valley, has more than doubled. The number has gone up from 45 to 112 in just two years and is set to increase further.

This was disclosed by Dr Ziaul Hassan, President of the PAD, at a briefing for the media and supporters of its education initiative. He has just returned along with a delegation of the executive committee members of PAD after attending the second Annual Day celebrations of the school near Mingora, capital of Swat.
Dr Hassan has urged the Pakistani community in the UAE to continue to support PAD as a number of major projects have been planned in the education sector.
Hassan said that this year the students of Parwarish had again obtained 100 per cent pass rate with A grade reflecting the dedication of teachers as well as the students. Quality education and extra-curricular activities are provided free of cost at the primary and secondary levels.
Rizwan Fancy, Welfare Secretary of PAD, presented a video briefing to highlight the various activities of the children as part of their second Annual Day celebration.
Riaz Farooq Sahi, ex-president PAD and Chairman Parwarish School pledged to develop the school to the university level. Dr Faisal Ikram, General Secretary of PAD, said the association will continue its support the school with the help of the community.
