This was stated here yesterday by Dr. Abdullah Al Amiri, Director of the Bureau of Policies and Planning (MoE) during a meeting of ministry officials and representatives of private schools and the parents of students.

Dr. Al Amiri said the decision reflects the keenness of the Ministry of Education on partnering with the private schools for drafting new regulations as decreed by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He added that the ministry has held a number of meetings with representatives of private schools during the current phase and such meetings will be held once in two weeks to discuss specific issues and ways to develop the private sector, including licensing of schools and the quality of education in private schools.

Dr. Al Amiri disclosed that the accreditation of private schools in the future will be in accordance with universal standards, which would entail a comprehensive report on the educational facilities, proper training of administrative and teaching staff, the student-teacher ratio, tuition fees, and the mechanism of examinations and evaluations.
