A 5.1 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale was recorded in south Iran on Monday at 2.58pm, UAE time, according to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).
Tremors were felt by residents of Dubai, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah. No damages were reported.
Umer Farook, an Indian web developer, told Khaleej Times that he was on his desk when he felt the tremor.

"I asked my friends about anything abnormal, and they shared the same feeling."
Reiterating the same, Saad Oraiqat, a photographer, said he also felt the tremor.
"Reports of the tremor went viral on social media, and soon the news was confirmed by NCMS.
