Dubai Marina residents woke up on Sunday to an amusing sight of giant gorilla and tiger sculptures flying amongst the gleaming skyscrapers.

"Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Nope. It is King Kong flying past your window on a Sunday morning," tweeted Mike Townsend, a resident.
Videos posted by residents on social media showed what looked like a huge golden sculpture of a gorilla and a tiger dangling from a helicopter and gliding over Dubai Marina and its picturesque skyline around 7.30 in the morning.

Initially, it was not clear who owns the sculptures and where they were flown into.
However, the giant sculptures were delivered to the Address Dubai Marina Hotel to deck their newly opened pool club and lounge.
"I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the massive figures flying past the Marina Mall. First I did not believe my eyes. Then I thought it is Dubai and anything is possible," said Celine, a restaurant staff.
"Standard morning viewing in Dubai. Someone getting a solid metal giant tiger ornament delivered by helicopter," Daniel Harkin, another Dubai resident posted on his facebook.
