Tributes are pouring in for a 35-year-old Lebanese expatriate in the UAE who died during a trekking trip in Sharjah's Khor Fakkan. Fuad Naser, founder of the 530_run club in Dubai, said he couldn't believe Mohamad Hajjar was no more.
Hajjar was found dead and two women rescued during a mission involving the Ministry of Interior's air wing, Sharjah Police, civil defence and coast guards on Sunday.
Nasser, organiser of the Dubai Sports Council's hugely successful 'home marathon', said members of the 530_run club have yet to come to terms with the tragic demise of their friend.
"We got connected through 530_run club. We became friends there. He was very active. And no one thought that something like this would happen to him," Naser told Khaleej Times on Monday.
"He used to always come for workout and training in the morning. He was friends with everyone. He was a very nice person. You can see the comments on our Instagram page where we shared the tragic news. Our people are really sad and they are showing how much they loved him."
Members of the 530_run club poured their hearts out on Instagram. "Such a beautiful soul and a decent person. May his soul rest in peace," one member wrote.
Another member remembered her last meeting with Hajjar. "Final hours with you @hajjarri were amazing. We love you and you will stay in our hearts enjoy the view from the sky!"
Hajjar's friends at the 530_run club have already planned something beautiful in his memory.
"We have now created a group to read Quran for him and do some charity on his behalf," Naser said. "We will do the charity through the government channels. We will do our best for him."
