People who work in public service choose no time and place to perform their duties - and this was true of a Dubai Police officer who helped a distressed motorist in Sharjah recently.
According to Dubai resident Abdul Wahab, an Indian expat from Kerala, an off-duty policeman helped him change his burst tyre in the early hours of Friday.
"My front tyre had burst and I pulled over to the road shoulder to change it. But I could not do it as I have a knee problem. Some people, who stopped by, refused to help as it was very hot. Thankfully, an officer, who is on his way home after a night duty at the Bur Dubai Police station, stopped his vehicle after seeing me and he lied down on the ground to change the tyre for me," Wahab shared with Khaleej Times.
The incident happened along Emirates Road between Sharjah and Ajman around 6am.
"I knew the police officer was tired after a night's duty but he still had the energy to assist me and I am so grateful for his help," he added.
Wahab did not mention the name of the police officer.
