According to the public prosecution, a traffic police officer who reports to the accident scene can log into the smart application and file details like accident location, number of injured and the nature of their injuries. He can then upload photos and videos from the scene, in addition to personal details about the parties involved.
The 'smart report' will help a traffic prosecutor take the necessary inspection action in a record time. The traffic prosecutor can receive an alert about the report wherever he may be and at any time. After evaluating the report and taking the necessary action, he can send back a reply to the traffic police officer.
One of the main purposes of the new move is to enable the traffic prosecutor to take instant action on serious and fatal accidents and inspect the scene without the need to be physically there. The smart report will help speed up the probe and inspection process in a way that the necessary procedure will be completed within 24 hours.
It will also help reduce traffic jams resulting from such accidents through coordinated efforts with the police. Another advantage will be the paperless and automated work as the correspondence and technical reports will all go online. The new app will replace all the paper work.
"It will also prove helpful to swiftly settling the subsequent claims of the parties involved in the accidents, which used to take a minimum period of one month," the prosecution said.
The initiative was launched by the Dubai Public Prosecution in cooperation with the police during the Gitex Technology Week. Officials present included Advocate-General Salah Bou Farroucha Al Felasi, head of Dubai traffic prosecution, and Brigadier Saeed Hamad bin Suleiman, director of Al Rashidiya police station.
