A 41-year-old man, the only breadwinner of his five-member family including three kids, has got a new lease of life, thanks to Dar Al Ber Society which paid Dh90,000 needed for his kidney transplant surgery.
The man had been diagnosed with kidney failure some years ago. "He had to go through painful dialysis sessions for a long time," said Dr Hisham Al Zahrani, deputy head of community service sector, Dar Al Ber.
But it was a massive jolt for the family when the specialists told the patient that dialysis sessions were of no help anymore.
"The family felt helpless as they couldn't afford the mandatory kidney transplant surgery," Zahrani pointed out.
They approached Dar Al Ber, which studied the father's case and verified the condition of the man, who is an employee with an institution here, he added.
"The Dar Al Ber Society managed to pay Dh90,000 needed for the surgery with the help of philanthropists across the country."
The man didn't have to quit his job and he has gone back to work after recovering.
