Man claims glass table shattered because of Dubai heat

Dubai - According to a resident, he heard a 'boom' sound.

A photo shared by an online community in Dubai sparked a conversation regarding the scorching weather.
In a thread on Reddit, a user shared a photo of shattered glass table which he spotted in the Palm. The man claimed that the glass table shattered because of extreme heat. His post started a conversation about whether that is even possible with many users airing their opinions. According to the author of the post, he was standing a couple of feet away from the table when he heard a 'boom' sound. He later saw the glass atop the table in pieces.

One of the comments on the post said that the glass might have shattered because of the addition of nickel sulphide - a substance which is usually found in tempered glass.

According to an ABC2 report, spontaneous glass breaking rarely happens but it is not impossible. A glass manufacturing company listed out some reasons as to why tempered glass can break. According to the Caplan Brothers Co, spontaneous glass breakage can occur because of extreme temperatures or abnormalities in manufacturing.
