When a tourist or a foreign friend asks you about your favourite area or a place you would recommend visiting and exploring in Dubai, Jumeirah would first cross your mind.

This beautiful area, where people flock at night for rides or strolling and jogging along the beach, can be calm and busy at the same time.

Along the beach, five-star hotels line up offering tourists an exotic experience and a luxurious stay to remember. The Burj Al Arab is an iconic landmark. It has become a symbol of Dubai and an object for mementos and souvenirs of the emirate. It has been recently crowned as the Best Hotel in the World at the Ultimate Luxury Travel Related Awards.

Al Mina Siyahi hotel is another favourite for many tourists. The Madinat Jumeirah is a major complex selling handcrafts, traditional clothing and souvenirs of the UAE. Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) is also a buzzing place during weekends and holidays. The Dubai Canal and City Walk are the most recent popular destinations at nighttime.

On weekends, one can spot youngsters in their fancy cars and bikes driving on the Jumeirah Road along the beach. It has become a sort of "weekly parade". During the UAE National Day every year, the road also witnesses a huge and long parade of cars, beautifully adorned with the UAE flag and the Rulers' pictures.

For most long-time residents of the neighbourhood, Jumeirah is a locality they would love to live in 'as long as they are in Dubai'. Residents praised the neighbourhood for it's centralised location, easy access to amenities and for being extremely pet-friendly.

Indian national and garment business owner Poonam Kapur has been a Jumeirah resident for 20 years. "I used to live near Al Safa Park, and now I live in Al Manara Street. Jumeirah is centrally-located, has open roads and it is easy to find parking. There are several super markets which is very helpful for families. My office is five minutes away and we have neighbours who are very nice Arab families. Also, I have enough place to take my dogs around as it is a very dog-friendly neighbourhood."

She added: "It has easy access to schools, parks and the presence of little gardens give Jumeirah a unique charm. Gardens, parks and walking areas right next to the beach make it wonderful. A lot of small, affordable eateries serving authentic cuisines give the community a ethnic twist as well."

Erach Khambatta, CEO of Crossroads Advertising, has also been living in Jumeirah for over 20 years. "It is indeed a special neighbourhood and very convenient because of its centralised location. I've seen people of all age groups living in Jumeirah. From young couples who've just gotten married and started their lives to people well into their 60s. It is a locality for everyone."
