Saliba believes that humans are born creative and must let their creativity out.

German expat Sam Saliba believes in connecting people through art. Founder and creative director of Art Painting Lab, the 39-year artist is also an author of a book titled Dubai Person, where she has illustrated some relatable Dubai moments in a humorous way - almost like memes.

Saliba, along with her network of talented regional and international artists, bring art to the many community sectors that regular people frequent including homes, parking lots, hospitals, restaurants, coffee shops, malls and hotels.

Saliba and her team creates artworks across the city and public spaces through a variety of meaningful and coordinated art pieces through canvas painting, mural artworks, graffiti, fabric and textile art, wood, stone sculptures, ceramic and porcelain, styrofoam carving, photography and digital illustrations among others.

"Art in public spaces is an amazing way to enhance the environment we often frequent as part of our social circle. For example, #artemaar asked us to create an amazing localised experience for the Dubai Zabeel Mall, the sectional mall across from The Dubai Mall. As a result, art is now part of a person's visiting experience," she said.

Saliba, who has lived in the UAE for 30 years, said that as an artist and art provider, she aims to raise peoples' state of mind to their higher purpose.

"Purposeful art and art tailored to a community has a way to create high-mindedness. In a high-minded state of being, people laugh and enjoy, and appreciate the world around them. They think bigger, more beautiful, more collectively, kinder and more down to earth," she said.

"My aim is to connect people by providing experiences that they can share regardless of nationality, religion or status and that will help create a high-minded community, appreciated neighbourhoods and finally a happy city."

Talking about how her art solutions to public spaces serve the community, she said: "My main work is artistically enhancing our environment by bringing meaningful, relevant and coordinated art to public establishments like hotels, restaurants, work environments, hospitals, public venues and play and learn spaces. Without the art that artists like us make, many establishments will miss the human element, the moments of escape, the Instagramable moments, the many conversations and ice breakers, the witty chuckles, the appreciation that someone did something special for them. So I believe that artists are serving the community in many very important ways. We help connect people."

Saliba believes that humans are born creative and must let their creativity out.

"Be true to your inner reality and you will create beauty all around you. People need to know that they are creative beings. They are born with an art instinct that can create amazing realities. I believe this because we are born with the ability to vocalise our needs and therefore need to share through vocalisation. That sharing turns to words, which turn into thoughts that become actions. These actions are our creations and our reality. The result is the beauty we create," she concluded.
