Pet owners can now take their dogs out for a run (or a walk) as a new 475-metre park opens in Dubai's Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) community. The gated park near Cluster H offers amenities like an off-leash area, open green spaces, a shaded seating area and dog play equipment. Dogs and their owners can visit the facility on all days of the week from 8am to 9pm.

"The JLT Dog Park provides a safe and enclosed space for residents, neighbouring communities as well as visitors to walk and exercise their dogs in a controlled environment," DMCC, master developer of JLT, said in a statement.
The DMCC has specified certain rules for the park:

General rules

> Handlers must have a leash available at all times. A dog must be kept on a leash until it is inside the park. It must be placed on a leash before it is taken outside.

> Dogs must be removed from the 'off-leash' area at the first sign of aggression.

> Handlers are legally responsible for their dogs and any damage caused to the facility, or any injury to any person or other dogs.

Guidelines for handlers

> Dogs must be under the control of their handler and in view at all times.

> Handlers should be 16 years or older. Younger children must be accompanied by a chaperone.

> They should be in possession of a dog leash at all times.

> They are limited to a maximum of two dogs.

> They are responsible for removal and disposal of waste.

Banned dogs

> Female dogs in estrus; sick or aggressive dogs; puppies under 4 months

> Dogs that don't have a current Dubai Municipality ID tags issued
