The Philippine Consulate in Dubai is inviting all Filipino artists, singers, performers, photographers and writers to a gathering on Friday to promote Philippine arts and culture, as well as the use of the Filipino language.
"We will be discussing the state of Philippine arts in Dubai and the Northern Emirates and also curate our talent pool. By doing so, we hope to plot and strategise what direction to take to bring our art, culture, and heritage into a more relevant and productive stage in global forums," Philippine Consul-General Paul Raymund Cortes told Khaleej Times on Monday.
Cortes added that the consulate is spearheading the event to bring Filipino artists together and "assess what strategies must be taken to push the advocacy of Philippine arts".
Incidentally, August is celebrated as Buwan ng Wika (National Language Month) in the Philippines.
Filipino is the national language. Scholars say that an entire month is dedicated to it not only to promote history but also to unite the different cultures and communities across the nation and in every part of the globe.
