Dubai wows the world with stunning changes

Dubai - From a small fishing town of 50,000 people in the 1960s, Dubai is now home to around three million people of various nationalities.

Dubai has been recognised as "one of the top five cities that have made stunning transformations" in recent years, according to a list revealed by the World Economic Forum on Wednesday.
From a small fishing town of 50,000 people in the 1960s, Dubai is now home to around three million people of various nationalities and some record-breaking structures, including the world's tallest tower and the world's longest driverless metro system.
While Dubai came second, topping the list of transformative cities was Shenzhen, China's first special economic zone for trade and investment, that has seen a 1,200,000 per cent rise in gross domestic product since the 1970s.
Coming behind Shenzhen and Dubai was Medellin, a city in Colombia that has made a turn-around from a dirty drug war and was cited as the world's most innovative city in 2013. The fourth place went to Melbourne, followed by Mumbai.
