Motorists will be requested to give way.

The Dubai Police on Monday took to social media to remind motorists that they will be hearing alerts on their car radios when emergency vehicles are approaching.

In a Twitter post, the Dubai Police showed how the technology works. Cars blocking the emergency vehicle will be asked to give away via a warning message. The alert will say: "Attention, emergency vehicle approaching! Kindly give way."

A similar was implemented by Sharjah earlier this year. The innovative device was introduced in June according to the directives of Major-General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police. He added that it would ensure rapid response to emergencies and help the authorities reach their destinations at the soonest possible time.
