A weekend getaway in Salalah, Oman, turned into a tragedy for a Dubai-based family after three members died in a crash. An Indian couple and their eight-month-old baby boy died in the crash, while their three-year-old daughter is battling for life at an Omani hospital.
Three Omani nationals also died in the accident which happened on Friday on the highway that connects the UAE to Salalah. The deceased have been identified as Gousulla Azmathullah Khan, his wife Ayesha Siddique, and their son Hamza Khan, the Consulate General of India in Dubai has confirmed.
Times of Oman quoted a police official as saying that the Omanis' vehicle overturned, after which the Dubai residents' car crashed into it.

Khan and Ayesha's family members in Dubai are in a state of shock. The family is praying for the speedy recovery of the three-year-old. She has begun to show some minor improvements, according to Khan's younger brother Aziz Ullah Khan. "My mother is in a state of trauma since hearing the news. I cannot even leave her to go to Muscat to see my baby. Our only priority is her well-being, nothing else," he told Khaleej Times.
"My brother and family have been in the UAE since May 2015. He is the oldest sibling, the head of our family. He was like our father and he was taking care of everything. He was the soul of our family."
Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, a lecturer at Nizwa College of Technology and member of the Omani-Indian community group Deccan Wings, said the group has been providing help to the family. "On humanitarian grounds, we have been extending all possible help. At present, the baby's condition is showing some improvement. Hyderabadis in Oman came forward to locate the family members within an hour of us releasing the information."
Consul-General of India to Dubai Vipul told Khaleej Times that the mortal remains of the parents and the second child have been flown back to India. "The consulate is in touch with the company, and there are relatives with the child in Muscat. Our embassy in Oman is also providing all assistance to the family."
Hyderabad-based Amjed Ullah Khan tweeted photos of the accident to the Consulate General of India in Dubai, to which the consulate replied: "We and our Embassy in Muscat are in touch with the friends and relatives, please be assured that we will provide all help."
