Five businesses in malls and in Dubai's Warsan 3 area have been fined after their employees were caught without face masks, the emirate's authorities announced on Friday.

Ten shops were also issued warning notices for failing to place the required number of social distancing stickers, the Dubai Economy said on Twitter.

These 15 violations were recorded during the department's latest round of inspections, where 711 businesses were found compliant with anti-Covid measures.

With the UAE recording a spike in the number of daily Covid-19 cases, authorities across the country have started cracking the whip on businesses that are flouting the safety rules. A number of outlets have been ordered shut, while some lost their operating permits.

The Dubai Economy called on everyone to report any non-compliance with the precautionary guidelines through the Dubai Consumer app available on the Apple, Google, and Huawei stores, by calling 600545555, or by visiting the Consumerrights.ae website.
