Appointments and ticketing system must also be strictly followed.

Salons and barbershops in Dubai will be permitted to operate at 50 per cent capacity from tomorrow, according to a fresh set of guidelines for the reopening of establishments issued by Dubai economy.

The document specifies that these outlets will only be permitted to offer hair and nail services - and must be taken by appointment. Home services are not permitted - neither are spa, sauna, Moroccan bath, or massage services.

All kids salons (outside the malls) will also reopen at 50 per cent capacity for the permitted services, and must follow all the measures in place for adult salons and barber shops.

The list of measures is as follows:-

>Kids salons are strictly for child-only facilities.

>Appointments and ticketing system must be strictly followed.

>Customers must maintain a physical distance of at least two metres. The social distancing measure must apply even when using hair/nail stations or other related services.

>Face masks must be worn by clients at all times. They can be adjusted for very short time periods during certain procedures - such as while trimming hair behind the ears or shaving the beard - and if absolutely necessary.

>One adult (aged less than 60 years) can supervise a maximum of three children, with only one of the kids aged between 1 and 5.

>Body temperature of clients must be checked upon their arrival. Anyone exhibiting symptoms must not be allowed to enter the premises.

The document specified multiple guidelines for treatment providers as well:-

>They must compulsorily wear face masks, face shields and overalls while providing services.

>All surfaces and chairs must be disinfected after every client use, and clients are encouraged to wash or sanitise their hands before and after use.

>All waiting or seating areas inside or in front of the salon or barbershop must be removed.

>The guidelines reiterated that strict penalties will be imposed on the providers if they did not adhere to the protocols.
