Make sure your car is in good condition before you hit the road, the Dubai Police have reminded as they recently received several reports of vehicle breakdown on highways.
Drivers must always check their wheels and other parts of their vehicles to avoid any problem on the road, the police said on Tuesday. Routine maintenance schedules should also be followed.
Col Jumah Salem bin Suwaidan, acting director of the General Traffic Department at the Dubai Police, said patrols had dealt with a number of vehicles that had suddenly stopped in the middle of the road because of motorists' failure to take their cars to the garage for regular checks.
Such breakdowns must be avoided as these cause traffic congestion and affect other road users, Col Bin Suwaidan said.
Those who do find themselves in this situation must immediately move their vehicles to the side of the road. Police patrols extend help to ensure safety as they find a solution to the problem.
