Get ready to splash your way to fitness when the Dubai Fitness Challenge returns for its fourth edition on October 30. On the second day of the month-long fitness challenge, residents and visitors can wade through 35 floating obstacles in Jumeirah Beach Residence for the region's first ever Aqua Challenge.
Happening at the AquaFun Waterpark on October 31, the obstacles will be arranged to spell out 'I Love Dubai' when seen from the air.
The Dubai Sports Council said participation is limited to a maximum of 150 people. Registration is open to men and women aged 16-60 years. They can register as individuals in the male and female categories or as a mixed team of three. "There will be valuable prizes on offer for the podium finishers," the sports council said.
The event will start at 3pm. "In adherence to social distancing and other Covid-19 safety protocols, no more than three people will be allowed to start in every wave, with a 60-second gap between each.
"Social distancing rules will be followed at all times and there will be temperature checks at entry points for all participants. Face masks are mandatory for all before getting on the obstacle racecourse. In case of any emergency, an isolation room is also provided," the council said.
Life jackets will be provided to the participants, but they will need to bring their own towel and a change of clothes.
Last week, it was announced that Dubai would host a socially distanced version of its fitness challenge. The fourth edition of the challenge, which seeks to get residents and tourists to commit to 30 minutes of fitness activities for 30 days, runs till November 28 and will feature a mix of virtual and physical events and activities.
