Of the 18 killed in Friday's plane crash tragedy in Kozhikode, one-year-old Azam Muhammad was the youngest.
The infant was on his way to visit his homeland for the first time.
Born to Dubai residents Nijaz and Sahira Banu last year, he was taking the maiden journey to meet his maternal grandfather and other relatives, who were eagerly anticipating his arrival.
Tragically, Azam - who was on his mother's lap at the time of descent - did not survive the crash.
According to Malayalam media reports, his mother Sahira too succumbed to her injuries at a private hospital in Kondotty. She was 29.
Two of her other children - Iahan (8) and Mariyam (4) - are currently receiving treatment for their injuries at two separate hospitals in the district.
Nijaz and his family have reportedly been residents of the UAE for the last 10 years.
Azam was one of four children killed in the crash on Friday.
