The UAE's most prestigious academic institutions have been invited to GOTECH 2019.
This is to highlight their inspiring educational programs, elaborate on their faculty and facilities, gain access to the oil and gas industry's top players and establish new collaborations, it was announced this morning.
Held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance of UAE, Chairman of Dragon Oil, GOTECH 2019 will see participation from Khalifa University, University of Sharjah, Herriot Watt University and Abu Dhabi Polytechnic.  International universities who will also be sharing technical papers include Penn State University, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, China University of Petroleum, Louisiana State University and University of Salford.
According to Dragon Oil CEO, Ali Rashed Al Jarwan, 2 sessions during the 3-day conference have been dedicated to academia who are invited to share and compete for the best senior graduation projects. Furthermore, GOTECH is seeking the input of these well-known universities to come up with proposals in tackling some of the major challenges faced by oil & gas industry.
These sessions are taking place in Business Club 1 on the Day 1 and Day 2 of the conference. A jury of industry experts will identify the best senior graduation project and the best solution to the challenge put forward by the jury for a memorable reward.
"We want these creative and entrepreneurial minds to think about how their ideas and technologies can help solve oil and gas challenges. Therefore, we have shared the pertinent issues faced by our industry with them and asked that they be bold and daring in the solutions that they present/showcase at GOTECH 2019," said Mr Al Jarwan.
Also important to note is that this year university students get complimentary access to the conference and showcase.
"Dragon Oil's Emiratization program continues to gain momentum and we can proudly state that today, more than 25 per cent of our workforce is Emirati. We understand the importance of giving these brilliant young minds employment opportunities at Dragon Oil. At GOTECH 2019 we are trying to bridge the gap between theory and the practical aspects of the industry by providing a meeting point for industry loyalists to blend with young ones and enjoy a mutually beneficial exchange of ideas," added GOTECH 2019 Program Chairman, Fareed Alhashmi
"This year GOTECH is distinguished in several aspects to encourage networking on special advanced subjects in technology application, EOR, artificial intelligence and research and development. To enhance such special networking a "Center of Excellence" to attract industry elite was created. A special program was designed jointly with industry peers to deploy best practices and innovations and transfer this knowledge in multiple ways to realize a step change in performance management," concluded Al-Jarwan.
The Center of Excellence will have a dedicated space at GOTECH 2019 and house six key topics related to the latest breakthroughs in technologies relevant to the oil & gas industry.
