New Year 2020: Carry two pieces of luggage in Dubai Metro on your way to the airport
Dubai - This will help ease traffic on the roads.
"Enjoy a hassle-free journey when departing from or arriving to the airport during peak season starting today (December 24) until January 2 using the Dubai Metro. Remember you can carry two pieces of luggage per person when heading to Terminal 1 or 3. Your comfort is our priority," the RTA said.
This arrangement is part of a plan put together by Dubai's Emirates airline, the RTA, Dubai Police, Dubai Customs, the General Directorate of Foreign Residency Affairs (GDRFA) and Dubai Airports to facilitate the passenger and traffic movements to and from Dubai International Airport (Terminal 1 and 3) during the next few days of peak travel. The peak holiday travel period has been running from December 19 will last until January 6, with over 5 million passengers passing through Dubai International Airport.
It is recommended that passengers travelling during this period check-in online prior to arriving at the airport, and make use of the quick-baggage drop counters at the terminal. Passengers should arrive at the airport at least 3-4 hours prior to their flight.
The RTA will operate the Dubai Metro for extended periods on certain days during the peak travel period. The extended period is as follows:
December 27-28: Red Line (between Rashidiya and DMCC stations only) from 5am to 3.30am; Green Line (all stations) from 5.30am to 3.30am.
December 31 - January 1: Red Line (between Rashidiya and DMCC stations only) for 24 hours; Green Line (all stations) for 24 hours.
January 2-3: Red Line (between Rashidiya and DMCC stations only) from 5am to 3.30am; Green Line (all stations) 5.30am to 3.30am.
To ease congestion on the roads leading to the airport, Dubai Police will provide detours for traffic. All passengers are requested to adhere to the displayed instructions and guidance to/from the airport.
