Dubai has long been known for its high standards in customer service, and the city is keen on upholding this reputation by appreciating employees who go out of their way to do their best.

The efforts of one employee have caught the attention of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, after he recently received a report from the government's 'mystery shopper' initiative.

In a tweet on X, the leader praised the employee who works at a vehicle inspection and registration centre in Dubai's Al Qusais.

Naming Yousef Mohammed Abdullah, the Ruler shared pictures of the "diligent young man" who was "committed to completing transactions efficiently".

He noted that customers at the centre expressed their gratitude for his "cheerful" nature and his attitude towards them.

The leader also described Yousef as someone who is "proactive in serving people". This has been captured in photos — be it showing a customer something on their phone or patiently giving extensive answers to their queries — the employee can be seen going the extra mile.

Yousef was honoured by Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at RTA.

Al Tayer recognised the employee’s loyalty and dedication to delivering outstanding customer service, welcoming customers, and processing transactions with professionalism, enhancing customer satisfaction and raising the quality of services provided.

Mystery shoppers in the UAE also highlight areas where government services need to be enhanced. In December 2024, Sheikh Mohammed called out three managers who were found to have blocked public access to their government offices — which is in violation of the emirate's culture of "open doors for the people".

The Ruler was sharing observations that were gathered from the government's mystery shoppers. A team of anonymous customers provided him with a report on all government departments.
