At a time of crisis, it is crucial to stay calm, follow the guidance of the authorities and, most importantly, refrain from sharing false information which might create panic. Dubai Police has reminded the public that doing so is punishable by law.
In a statement posted on social media, Dubai Police said, "Sharing rumours, false information, or any content that contradicts official announcements or that may cause public panic or threaten public safety, order, or health is prohibited."
"Violators may face criminal penalties, including imprisonment and fines of no less than Dh200,000," they added in the reminder.

The police also warned against clicking photos of critical sites.
"It may seem like just a photo... But to some, it's information. Do not photograph or share security or critical sites. Protecting them is a national responsibility that helps keep our community safe and secure," the Dubai Police said.
Several UAE government entities have warned the public against sharing or circulating old videos and images since Iran broadened its retaliatory attacks on American targets in the Gulf region from February 28.
According to UAE law, UAE residents are not allowed to:
Announce, disseminate, re-disseminate, circulate, or recirculate false news or data, or false, tendentious, misleading or erroneous rumours or reports, or rumours or reports contrary to what has been announced officially
Broadcast any provocative advertisements that could incite or provoke public opinion, disturb public peace, spread terror among people, or cause harm to the public interest, the national economy, the public order, or the public health
