More than 1,800 individuals have registered to volunteer with Dubai Police as part of this year’s New Year’s Eve celebrations, with registration still open until December 28 for those wishing to take part.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri, Director of the General Department of Community Happiness, explained that Dubai Police operate a fully integrated volunteering system designed to manage both internal staff volunteers and members of the wider community.

He said that the dedicated online volunteering platform, through their official website, allows volunteers to view available opportunities and register using their Emirates ID. Applications are reviewed based on specific criteria, including the required number of volunteers for each opportunity.

Once accepted, volunteers are contacted by designated leaders and required to attend orientation and awareness workshops tailored to their assigned roles. Al Mansouri stressed the importance of ensuring volunteers are physically fit and ready, particularly for field-based tasks.

He added that the volunteering journey is managed through a comprehensive automated system, starting from registration and attendance tracking at event locations to departure and the issuance of official volunteering certificates.

Volunteers have applied for seven different opportunities, including roles within bicycle and mounted police teams, the ‘Positive Spirit’ units, Hatta-based activities, photography, remote tasks and general volunteering.

Applications remain open until Sunday, December 28, with participants representing more than 30 nationalities, reflecting Dubai’s cultural diversity and strong sense of community participation.

During New Year’s Eve celebrations, volunteers will be deployed across eight key locations, including the Burj Khalifa area, Dubai Festival City, Dubai’s beaches, Naif, Expo City, Al Muhaisnah, Dubai Investment Park and Al Quoz, ensuring comprehensive coverage across major celebration sites.
