Dubai Municipality goes digital with 70 initiatives

Seventy ambitious digital programmes will be undertaken by the Dubai Municipality in partnership with the private sector in a bid to thrust the government department into the future, announced a top official.

The strategic digital initiatives will be undertaken in the following sectors — customer experience, transition to business automation, digital operating model, city management, resilient and secure infrastructure, AI and information management, and system of records, said Asmahan AlZarooni, director of IT at Dubai Municipality, on Wednesday.


The initiatives were announced as part of the civic body’s new digital strategy during the first edition of its annual Digital Forum which took place online.

AlZarooni said: “It is of critical importance that we stay abreast of key technological changes taking place. Our digital strategy is built on three pillars — customer happiness, digital operations and intelligent enterprise.”


She added: “Our strategy aims to achieve the following — industry innovation, customer’s happiness, enhancing the digital mindset, data reliance, and sustaining performance.”

Dawoud Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, said during the inaugural session: “Digital government is a not a new concept. Over the last few years, the Dubai government has carried through the wave of computerisation in a bid to develop improved opportunities to citizens and residents across all government department.”
