Sheikh Mohammed also met with the humanitarian team during the event, consisting of 975 employees. He noted that MBRGI's initiatives are supported by over 170,000 volunteers across all programmes.
"As we mark the anniversary of Humanitarian Work Day, which coincides with the passing of the founder of giving in the UAE, Zayed — may God rest his soul — we reaffirm that our humanitarian efforts continue unabated, and the UAE’s hand of generosity remains extended to all people," Sheikh Mohammed said.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiative, said: “2024 also witnessed the launch of the tallest endowment tower in the UAE, valued at Dh800 million, as part of the 1 Billion Meals Endowment' campaign, the largest of its kind to combat global hunger.
"The tower aims to contribute to a sustainable food security system for millions. Furthermore, the foundation stone was laid for the Hamdan bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, the largest and first of its kind in Dubai, providing free cancer treatment. This hospital will be a valuable addition to the medical landscape in Dubai and the UAE."
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) was established in 2015, combining under its umbrella over 30 humanitarian and developmental initiatives and entities, most of which have been launched and supported by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for more than 20 years.

The Foundation’s humanitarian, social and development initiatives and entities are primarily devoted to supporting and empowering vulnerable and disadvantaged communities around the world.
The MBRGI is the largest regional foundation in terms of the number of institutional initiatives that lead wide-reaching programmes and projects on a global scale.
Besides major time-bound humanitarian aid and relief operations, the MBRGI entities and initiatives also support vital societal sectors and develop practical and innovative solutions to address cultural, knowledge, economic, social, health, environment and humanitarian challenges in the region and the world.
