Dubai man admits harassing girl in lift in bid to have sex
Dubai - The man was in the building to drop leaflets promoting himself as a religious teacher.
The Court of First Instance was told the 33-year-old Pakistani construction worker grabbed the girl, 20, by her hand and neck, trying to hug her and fondled her against her will.
According to prosecution documents he was on March 28 in the building to drop some papers promoting himself as a religious teacher. The complaint was registered at Al Qusais police station.
The girl, an Indian student, said the man suddenly touched her shoulder, trying to hug her as she was in the building where she lived in Al Nahda 2. "I kept screaming at him until the lift door opened. I never saw him before there. He denied he harassed me when my father restrained him. But when he was interrogated by cops he asked for my forgiveness and claimed he came to the building to drop his personal leaflets as a teacher of Quran."
A policeman said the defendant admitted he sexually harassed the girl by grabbing her by the neck and trying to hug her in order to get her into having sex with him.
He was apologetic and said he was in the building to drop leaflets bearing his name and number to promote himself as a religious teacher.
The officer added that there was no camera in the lift but only in the building entrance and corridors.
