Dubai: 6-year-old reunited with family within an hour of getting lost
Upon reuniting with his son, the father signed a commitment to ensure such an incident does not occur again

A 6-year-old child of determination was successfully reunited with his family within an hour after wandering away from his home in Dubai. Each of the boy's parents believed he was with the other.
The Command and Control Centre in the General Department of Operations at Dubai Police received a report indicating that a child got lost in Naif Market. Officers quickly arrived on the scene, where they discovered the child crying and extremely distressed.

Police patrols promptly took him to the station, where the Victim Support Section provided care and comfort while efforts were made to identify his family.

Brigadier Omar Moussa Ashour, Acting Director of Naif Police Station, reported that the child's father was located within one hour. The father explained that he worked in a shop in the same building where the family lived. The child had left home intending to accompany his mother to his father's workplace but had inadvertently wandered into the street, believing he was still with his parents.
Upon reuniting with his son, the father signed a commitment to ensure such an incident does not occur again. He emphasised the importance of closely monitoring the child's whereabouts to guarantee his safety and protect him from harm.
Authorities have called on parents to maintain vigilance over their children and avoid leaving them unattended. They highlighted the family's responsibility in ensuring a child's safety and encouraged parents to teach their children how to respond if they become lost, including seeking help from police or security personnel in crowded or public places.
In a similar incident earlier this year, a seven-year-old boy who had gone missing in Ajman was reunited with his parents less than an hour after being found alone on a main road. An observant Arab man spotted the boy without any guardians in the Manama area and took him to the police station, demonstrating the importance of community awareness in keeping children safe.
