Global Village, a family destination, has decided to close its doors temporarily on Thursday as heavy rains and thunderstorms strike the nation.

In an announcement, the entertainment and shopping hub sais that it has made this decision to ensure the "comfort and safety of all guests of Global Village and its employees".

The region will continue to experience unstable weather conditions on Friday too, the National Centre of Meteorology has said. Authorities across the country have issued repeated reminders, urging residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe.

As the instability is expected to continue, Global Village said that it will remain closed until further notice, in light of the changing weather conditions.

A period of low-pressure systems over the Middle East has brought heavy rainfall over the last week. Conditions will intensify on Thursday, with thunderstorms expected to hit the region. While the storm will affect Saudi Arabia during the day, it will move eastwards towards the UAE and Qatar by night, according to BBC Weather.

The UAE's met department has issued warnings to residents to stay indoors, be cautious and to follow any instructions given by authorities.
